The Washington Wizards will be picking ninth in the NBA Draft for consecutive seasons. Devin Vassell out of Florida State should be the pick in 2020!

For the second year in a row, the Washington Wizards will be picking ninth in the NBA Draft. What are the odds, huh? Last year, they selected power forward Rui Hachimura out of Gonzaga with the ninth pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. Hachimura went on to have a solid rookie season. In 48 games, playing mostly at power forward, Rui averaged 13.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. These numbers earned him All-Rookie honors, as he was selected to the second team.

With a healthy John Wall and Bradley Beal expected back next season, the Wizards will be looking to add another complementary piece to their All-Star pair. The 2020 draft class does not have a lot of superstar or star talent, but a lot of prospects are more than capable of contributing immediately, given the right role and fit. Washington will have a few options available at the nine spot, but Devin Vassell (SG/SF) out of Florida State is the perfect piece for their team moving forward.

Who is Devin Vassell?

Devin Vassell is a 6’7″, 200 lb shooting guard/small forward with a nearly 7-foot wingspan. Vassell spent two years at Florida State, where his points per game increased from 4.5 to 12.7 between his freshman and sophomore season. After starting no games as a freshman, Vassell started 29 games as a sophomore. In almost 29 minutes per game, he averaged 5.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game to go along with his 13 points.
