Just what the Washington Wizards needs

Although Saddiq Bey is not a perfect prospect (who is?), he definitely checks all the boxes for the Washington Wizards.

The team needs reliable three-point shooting behind Bradley Beal and Davis Bertans. There might not be a more reliable shooter in this year’s draft than Bey. And say (God forbid!) the Wizards aren’t able to retain Bertans. Having a sniper like Bey on the roster to help make up for that loss will be invaluable.

The Wizards also need help on the defensive end…badly. Bey plays smart individual and team defense and would immediately improve the Wizards’ perimeter defending. While the effort level was sometimes in question for the Wizards last season, it won’t be with Bey.

Plus, Bey’s weaknesses will be minimized with the Wizards. Bey won’t need to be a ball-dominant playmaker on the offensive end. John Wall and Bradley Beal can run the show, leaving Bey to work his off-ball magic for catch and shoot opportunities.

While Bey may not have the highest ceiling in the draft, he has a solid floor, and what he lacks in athleticism, he makes up for in smarts and motor.
