Troy Brown Jr. is entering a crucial third season with the Washington Wizards. Here are three goals for him this upcoming 2020-2021 NBA season!

The time is now for Troy Brown Jr. as he enters his third season with the Washington Wizards. Coming into the 2018 NBA Draft, he was the fourth-youngest prospect in the entire class; only 19 years old when the Washington Wizards selected him out of Oregon with the 15th pick. In 35 games at Oregon, TBJ averaged 11.3 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.6 steals per game. He displayed a polished, well-rounded game and the Wizards felt his upside was worth investing a mid-first round pick in.

It was a surprising pick at the time. His development in the upcoming 2020-2021 season will truly determine whether or not the gamble paid off.

During his rookie season, Troy Brown Jr.  he only played 14.0 mins per game. With not much game action, he only averaged 4.8 PPG, 2.8 RPG, 1.5 APG, and 0.4 SPG in 52 total games. TBJ’s minutes did increase by a good margin in his second season. In almost 26 minutes per game, he averaged 10.4 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 2.6 APG, 1.2 SPG. In a shortened season, Brown more than doubled the number of games he started in. He had 22 starts in his second season compared to just 10 as a rookie.

A healthy John Wall and Bradley Beal should have the Wizards back in the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference. Rui Hachimura already proved in one season he’s a foundational piece, and the Wizards will have another lottery pick on their roster the next time they take the court. Troy Brown Jr. has to elevate his game a few notches in the most important year of his career so far. He’s more than ready to step up to the challenge, though. As long as he’s given opportunities, he’ll continue to prove he’s a valuable piece for Washington.
