The 2019-2020  season was a rollercoaster ride for our Washington Wizards. How did Tommy Sheppard fare in his first year as the shot-caller?

With the 2019-2020 season officially in the books, every team can now begin to look at what’s in store for next season. And that includes the Washington Wizards.

In what will be a crucial offseason for the Wizards, all eyes will be on general manager Tommy Sheppard as the Wizards look to retool and hop back into the playoff mix next year. In his first season, expectations weren’t particularly high for Sheppard, who inherited a mess of a roster from Ernie Grunfeld and not a lot of room under the salary cap with which to maneuver.

But that doesn’t mean Sheppard wasn’t busy. With the 2020 NBA Draft and free agency still a few weeks away, now would be a good time for a quick look back at how this past season — Sheppard’s first season at the helm — went. We knew that it would be a rebuilding year with John Wall’s injury and an influx of new young talent. But are the Wizards in a better position now than they were heading into last offseason? Were Sheppard’s moves good ones?

With the benefit of hindsight, let’s take a look at how Sheppard did in year one.
