Reason #2: Lob-Threat Ability

It feels like it’s been years since the Washington Wizards had a viable lob-threat. John Wall is one of the best passers in the entire NBA, but he never truly played with a big-man who could go up and get it. In the John wall era, Javale McGee is probably the only big-man that could consistently finish off lobs. Gortat was good at the pick and roll game, but he wasn’t a high flyer. Nerlens Noel is not an athletic freak, but his 6’10” height and outrageous 7’4″ wingspan make him a great lob option.

He would instantly step in and fill a role that the Wizards desperately need. He’s excellent at setting strong screens and rolling to the rim to finish with authority. Noel threw down a bunch of thunderous lobs and dunks playing alongside Chris Paul and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander last season. He’ll continue to finish above the rim playing with another pure passer in John Wall. Noel fits the mold of a traditional, old-school big. He doesn’t really stretch the floor and most of his time is spent down low in the paint. The Wizards currently only have stretch-bigs on their roster so he’d bring a different skill set to Washington, which is refreshing!
