Westbrook will be Westbrook

There may not be another athlete in the NBA who is more unapologetically himself than Russell Westbrook. And he won’t be changing a thing now that he’s in Washington, D.C.

With Westbrook on the team, the Wizards have an incredibly fierce competitor that really doesn’t give a damn what anybody on the court, or off of it, thinks. That was evident right away during Westbrook’s introductory press conference.

When asked about his aggressive on-court demeanor, Westbrook laid it out as bluntly as he could.

"On the court, I don’t have any friends. I’m trying to bust somebody’s ass. I’m not shaking hands. And I’m not changing that."

Thank god! Nobody wants to see a tame version of Russell Westbrook. According to Brooks, the Wizards get that, and they’re not going to try and reign him in.

There’s another aspect of Westbrook’s off-the-court personality that might rub some Washingtonians the wrong way, though. Westbrook is a Dallas Cowboys fan. You better believe he’s not changing that part of himself, either. “I’m definitely going to have to stay a Cowboys fan, for sure,” said Westbrook when asked about his fandom.

Westbrook will be Westbrook and Wizards fans better get used to it. The Cowboys fandom in Football Team country is questionable, but the rest of the Westbrook experience should be entertaining.
