NBA Trade Rumors: 3 Big-name trade targets the Washington Wizards should avoid

Trade Target to Avoid #1: Andre Drummond
Andre Drummond, who can get 20 points and 20 rebounds in his sleep, has somehow had a tough time sticking, recently. Drummond is now with his second team in two seasons after things soured in Detroit. And it’s looking like his stay in Cleveland will be incredibly brief.
Drummond has averaged 17.5 points, 13.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.6 steals, and 1.2 blocks in 25 games this season. Those are great numbers, and Drummond is still only 27-years-old, but the Cavaliers have decided to favor the newly-acquired and younger Jarrett Allen instead. Allen, who was acquired last month as part of the James Harden deal, will be a restricted free agent this offseason. Drummond will be unrestricted.
It’s not often that such a dominant big man becomes available on the trade market (again), but the Wizards shouldn’t jump to grab this All-Star at their weakest position. Although the Wizards have struggled at the five spot, things would likely be much different if Thomas Bryant were in the picture. Now, Drummond would certainly be an upgrade, and he and Bryant would make for a formidable pair of centers next season. But that’s if Drummond is around next season.
Drummond will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, and will likely be expecting a max deal or something close to it. After all, he’s a 27-year-old guaranteed double-double. Those players get paid. The center position may not be what it was in the ’90s, but that type of production will always be in demand. If the Wizards bring him to D.C., it could be only for a few months, and they’d be giving up a lot for a short rental.
