JaVale McGee

Years as a Washington Wizard: 2008-12 (255 games)
Current Team: Cleveland Cavaliers

Hop with me into the way-back time machine, and we can revisit 2010, a time when the Washington Wizards had two uber-athletic teenagers — John Wall and JaVale McGee — waiting in the wings. One blossomed into an All-Star and became the face of the franchise, and one became a regular on Shaqtin’ a Fool while he bounced around the NBA.

Currently on his seventh NBA team, McGee has come a long way since his dismal days in D.C. He has three championship rings, a 42-16 record in the playoffs, and is still contributing in his thirteenth season.

Now in Cleveland, aka the land of many centers, McGee is having a decent season off the bench. Despite being fairly low on the frontcourt pecking order, McGee has put up numbers that would compete for the starting spot in D.C.  This season, he is averaging 7.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks in 15 minutes per game. Robin Lopez is averaging 8.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 0.6 blocks while getting five more minutes of court time per game (20.2 mpg).

Next. Bradley Beal trade feels as unlikely as ever. dark

Were Thomas Bryant healthy, McGee may not be missed right now. But the Wizards are currently trying to play center-by-committee with Moritz Wagner, Robin Lopez, and Alex Len. McGee would be the best option among an uninspiring bunch there.
