The Washington Wizards have had an up-and-down season so far, to say the least. Here are the three biggest surprises from the first half of the year!

All-Star weekend is over, and the second half of the 2020-2021 season is almost underway! So far, the season has not gone the way most Wizards fans envisioned, but there are still three months left of the regular season to right the ship. Washington is currently the 12th seed in the Eastern Conference at 14-20, but they’re only 4 games behind the Boston Celtics, who are 4th in the East at 19-17.

So through all the ups and downs, the Wizards are still far from out of it in what has been a crazy season. Due to a COVID-19 crisis in January, the Wizards were forced to postpone six games in the first half of the year. Therefore, they’ll have to play 38 games to close out the season, which is more than any other Eastern Conference team. Washington plays every other day 28 times and has six back-to-backs in the second half of the season. The NBA did them no favors in terms of rest.

Hopefully, the Wizards enjoyed the short break because it’ll be a long, grueling race to get back in the playoff hunt. On the bright side, Washington is 8-3 in their last 11 games and starting to trend in the right direction. Make no mistake, though. There’s still a long way to go before we can truly say they’ve turned a corner. Yes, Washington is healthy and playing their best basketball of the season, but they’re not yet where they need to be.

These next 3-4 weeks could potentially make or break their season. But before we officially move on to the second half of the year, let’s breakdown the 3 biggest surprises from the first half of the 2020-2021 season!
