Washington Wizards NBA Draft: 3 Baylor players the Wizards could draft
By Ethan Smith
Is the next Washington Wizards draft pick a member of the Baylor Bears?
Like it or not, the Washington Wizards have a better chance of being in the draft lottery than they do of making the playoffs. If the lottery were tomorrow, the Wizards would enter with the sixth-best odds. For better or for worse, the lottery isn’t for a few months. The Wizards still have 24 games to go. Bradley Beal is banged up. Rui Hachimura, too. It doesn’t look good.
Despite sitting in the standings among teams in the thick of a rebuild or mid-tank, the Wizards’ haven’t publicly given up on the playoffs. But let’s face it. The Wizards should be more worried about prospects than the postseason at this point. Tonight, they’ll get a good look at several NBA hopefuls on college basketball’s biggest stages: The NCAA National Championship Game.
It’s all come down to this. There were once 68 teams. Now there are two. A month of madness has led us to one epic showdown. The undefeated Gonzaga Bulldogs vs. the Baylor Bears.
The Baylor Bears are in the midst of one of their best seasons in program history. They brought home the Big-12 title, their first conference championship since 1950, which is also the last time they made the Final Four. The last time they made it to the championship game was even further back than that, 1948. They’ve never won.
If the Bears want to win their first championship since McDonald’s’ first opened its doors, they’ll need big performances from some of the guys that got them here. And some of those guys should be on the Wizards’ radar.
