Will the Washington Wizards find someone in free agency?

Another option that the Washington Wizards may explore when looking for Russell Westbrook’s backup is a fresh start through free agency. The 2021 pool for available point guards is quite deep. Some notable names pop up when looking at free agents who will probably fetch similar contracts to what Ish Smith and Raul Neto will cost. Fan favorites like Derrick Rose and Alex Caruso will be available if the Wizards want to make somewhat of a splash with their backup point guard signing. However, if they’d rather go with guys who bring similar skills to the table as Smith and Neto did, Brad Wanamaker and T.J. McConnell will also be available.

With several strong point guard options on the table this offseason, there is a good chance that the Wizards could get a low price on a high-value player if they decide to go in that direction. Of course, if the Wizards become buyers in the backup point guard market, then they’re most likely letting both Neto and Smith walk.
