2021 NBA Draft: 3 guards the Washington Wizards could draft at #15
By Ethan Smith
No. 3- Moses Moody
Moses Moody only played one season of college basketball, but that is all he needed to stand out as one of the most exciting 3&D prospects in this year’s draft. After just one season, Moody was getting recognized in the form of one an SEC Rookie of the Year award, an All-SEC Freshman team selection, and an All-SEC team selection.
At just 19 years old, Moody is still fairly raw and will need time and reps in order to develop at the NBA level. However, his freshman year stats show he’s starting from a good place. He may be somewhat of a project, but it’s not hard to see the potential.
During his one season at Arkansas, Moody shot 45.7 percent from the field, 35.8 percent from three, and 81.2 percent from the foul line. While he doesn’t have the best shooting percentages in the draft, he’s more than capable. Plus, his offensive and defensive ratings speak volumes about Moody’s 3&D potential.
As a freshman, Moody finished with a 119.5 offensive rating and a 98.1 defensive rating. Those numbers can be a bit inflated due to cupcakes on the schedule outside of the SEC (Mississippi Valley State, Central Arkansas, etc.), but Moody’s ratings in SEC play only are very similar; 118.8 offensive rating, 101.9 defensive rating.
Moody is currently projected to go closer to the 8-12 range and may not be available when the Wizards are on the clock. However, his 3&D potential is too great for a team in need of both to overlook.
