Wizards Contenders will Call About – No. 1: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is having an absolutely incredible season in his first year with the Washington Wizards.  He was already a player with a skillset coveted by any and every contender, but his recent play has increased the demand he will be in on the trade market as the deadline approaches.

KCP is currently impacting the game in more ways than can be counted on one hand. Not bad for a player who has often been limited to a ‘3-and-D’ player by most up until this point in his career. With Washington, Caldwell-Pope has found ways to do little things on a nightly basis.

From defending both on ball and off ball to facilitating and hitting the glass, the KCP of late has been a different animal. Having already won an NBA Championship with the Los Angeles Lakers, KCP is proven in the biggest moments and around the biggest stars.

There is a reason LeBron James did so much to keep him around multiple years in L.A. Now, it seems inevitable that contenders will come calling about his status at this years trade deadline.

Can you name any team that wouldn’t love to add him to their wing rotation? Exactly, that team doesn’t exist, especially when thinking only about contenders. Any team with a glimmer of hope to win it all this year would give up a lot to acquire a specialist like KCP, who is playing some of the best ball of his NBA career these days.

From the Los Angeles Lakers to the Milwaukee Bucks and everyone in-between, KCP would be one of the trade deadlines most coveted players if he were made available by the Wizards. Will they let his name truly enter the market? Seems doubtful, as they shouldn’t. If a team comes in and blows them away, though, the long term benefit
