The Washington Wizards are finally back on the court tonight as they take on a scorching hot Memphis Grizzlies team. The Wizards will be kicking off a three-game road trip with a tough matchup against a Grizzlies team that has played very well at home all season.
The Grizzlies enter the day holding the third seed in the Western Conference while the Wizards are in the tenth spot in the Eastern Conference. The teams are obviously trending in different directions and the Wizards are much more in need of picking up a win.
That won’t be easy. Ja Morant has become a bonafide superstar this season and has the Grizzlies playing the best basketball they’ve played in years. They’ve won 25 of their last 32 games behind Morant and big man Jaren Jackson Jr. The Memphis roster is much deeper than just two guys, though.
Washington Wizards vs Memphis Grizzlies Odds
According to WynnBet, the Grizzlies are -5.5 favorites while the total of the game is set at 230.5. Based on recent play, one would first think the line is set too low. The Wizards are coming off a humiliating loss while the Grizzlies are as hot as anyone in the entire NBA.
That being said, the Wizards have had a few days off and there’s a chance they realize what’s at stake in their next handful of games. This will either be a season-changing stretch or a reality check that won’t be easy to stomach.
Assuming they have woken up would be ambitious. There’s little reason to assume anything with this team and how they have played so far this season.
A couple of interesting player props are available at WynnBet in addition to the game lines. Kyle Kuzma‘s rebound total is at 8.5 while Ja Morant’s assist total is listed at 7. Both are props that are very intriguing to play tonight
Washington Wizards vs Memphis Grizzlies Prediction
If you have watched Wizards basketball recently you understand why it’s nearly impossible to take them in this game even with the points. This team can fall out of a game quickly and that’s a threat at any moment against a team as hot as the Grizzlies are right now.
I’m expecting the Grizzlies to cover the -5.5 in a high-scoring game that goes over the total of 230.5. Of those two, the Grizzlies cover is the much more confident play.
Finally, I expect both of the already mentioned player props to go over in this one. Kyle Kuzma has been a force on the glass for the Wizards and as of late is the team’s best and most consistent rebounder. Morant, on the other side, is playing at such a high level that he should pick and choose how the Grizzlies score. That will lead him to finish with more than seven assists in the game.
