Trade Destination for Wizards Montrezl Harrell: Charlotte Hornets

A rumored suitor of Harrell in the past, the Hornets make even more sense now than they did before. This season, they are starting to win games with their promising core led by the talented LaMelo Ball.

One thing the Hornets don’t have solved, either short or long term, is their center position. They have Mason Plumlee playing a major role right now, and while he has played solid, he is hardly the ideal fit with their roster.

Young players like Vern Carey Jr. and Kai Jones have potential but are far from sure things. Harrell, on the other hand, would help them the rest of the season and could be a long-term option once his contract expires.

His energy and tenacity would fit perfectly with the exciting style of player the Hornets utilize. Not to mention how productive he would be as a hard roller to the rim and LaMelo Ball handling the ball.

If the Hornets want to improve their roster right now and get an early look at a potential free-agent addition, Harrell could be a great pick-up. They would only become more must-watch on a nightly basis with players capable of erupting at any given moment like Harrell, Ball, Kelly Oubre Jr. and Terry Rozier.

The Hornets have a couple of young players the Wizards could be interested in taking back. Players with upside that aren’t necessarily ready for or in need of minutes just yet. This opens up minutes for young players already on the Wizards while increasing their assets and players with potential for the future.

Names like James Bouknight, Jones, Carey Jr., Jalen Madaniels and maybe even PJ Washington could be the center of a Harrell to the Hornets deal. Some combination of players built around any of those guys would have to be considered by the Wizards as they look to increase their team’s upside but also have the chance to take a step forward sooner rather than later.
