Wizards Bradley Beal is not an NBA All-Star Game Snub
It isn’t much of a surprise that the Washington Wizards had no players get selected for the 2021-22 NBA All-Star game. There isn’t a real argument to be made for anyone on the team, including three-time all-star Bradley Beal.
Simply put, his season so far isn’t worthy of being selected for the all-star game. Despite his talent and skillset, Beal isn’t among the list of players that could be argued as all-star game snubs this year.
While we still are waiting on a few injury-replacement players to be added to the rosters, it’s safe to assume those replacements will not come from the Wizards roster. Players such as LaMelo Ball, Jarrett Allen and Jaylen Brown all should be ahead of Beal on the injury replacement waiting list. There are more, but those three could and should be at the top of the list in terms of getting in for players that won’t be playing in the game.
Why Wizards Guard Bradley Beal Did Not Get Snubbed
Beal has pretty impressive numbers on face value. Certainly right in the mix for consideration. When you dig deeper, and if you’ve paid attention to more than just box score stats, it’s pretty clear he isn’t among the All-Star caliber players for the 2021-22 season.
Beal is averaging 23.2 points, 6.6 assists and 4.7 rebounds per game. He’s shooting just 30 percent from behind the arc and has not done the things necessary to help his team win more games.
When Beal made the all-star game last season, he did so behind significantly better scoring numbers on higher shooting percentages. It was impossible to not include him in the game last year. This year, it’s easy to take his name out of the possible candidates.
Beal is currently out with an injury, so who knows if he’d be playing in the game had he been selected. It won’t matter, which could be a good thing for the Wizards. Beal and his teammates need all attention focused on turning this season around before it truly is too late.
