Can the Kristaps Porzingis and Bradley Beal Duo Work?

This season’s trade deadline saw the Washington Wizards make a move no one saw coming. They unloaded Spencer Dinwiddie and Davis Bertans to the Dallas Mavericks for former All-Star, Kristaps Porzingis.

The move came as a shock to Wizards fans, as nobody expected them to make a big move. For quite some time, the Mavericks had been trying to move Porzingis for the right price. However, it seemed like his value was low.

That is where the Wizards came in by dumping two contracts they no longer wanted. The potential is there with Porzingis, but his health is the question.

This off-season should have a focus on him and his standing with the organization, but there is another player that is at the center of all the moves this team will make. That player is Bradley Beal.

Beal is the franchise guy and is in line for a big extension. However, there is still that possibility of him being moved in a sign-and-trade scenario. The Wizards need to determine that this is the duo going forward; if they choose to bring back Beal. Unfortunately, this tandem did not play a single minute last year with one another.

By the time Porzingis arrived in Washington, Beal was deemed out for the season already. That might be the issue with this duo long-term; health. Both players are no stranger to long-lasting injuries. That can hinder chemistry and the overall outlook of the franchise going forward.

The catch is that they are both extremely talented individuals. Both are former All-Stars and less than 30 years of age. This off-season is a time to ask the question of if they can co-exist with another. The Wizards need to evaluate the roster and determine where they are heading.

Bringing Beal back to the fold seems like the most likely move, as he has made it known that he is enticed with the contract extension.

It is most likely that this is the dynamic duo for the next year or so. Hopefully, they can achieve success if they are paired together.
