Free Agent Guard that would bring value to the Washington Wizards: Eric Bledsoe

Sticking with the theme of defensive oriented players, veteran guard Eric Bledsoe would provide depth and the right tools to help the current group of Wizards guards. Like Bradley, Bledsoe may be focused on contending teams only right now.

If that changes or is not the case, and the Wizards can add him to their roster with little financial commitment, it makes all the sense in the world. He has made two All-Defensive teams in his career, most recently during the 2019-20 NBA season.

While Bledsoe and Bradley have quite a few similarities, there are also some significant differences in there games. On the offensive end of the floor, Bradley is not one to have the ball in his hands for big chunks of possessions. He’s an alright shooter and great cutter, though.

Bledsoe, on the other hand, has proven to have a much more diverse and impactful offensive skillset from the guard spot. He is not a great shooter but he is a natural scorer that can create for himself and get points in a variety of ways.

A role in Washington would be similar to a role almost anywhere for him, in that he would need to be aware of the role he will be asked to play. Limited minutes of full blown defensive effort. In a pinch, he could have offensive responsibilities but when healthy, the Wizards have players more capable of being featured with the ball.

If a contender doesn’t sign Bledsoe quickly, the Wizards should at least kick the tires on who they would give up on to create a roster spot for the veteran guard. He’s another player that offers help in an area that is currently a major weakness.
