Washington Wizards: studs and duds from loss against Chicago Bulls
The studs from the Washington Wizards matchup with the Chicago Bulls.
There were numerous players that starred last night that deserve recognition. However, there were three in particular that stand out more than others and they should get the most praise for their play.
First, in the honorable mentions is Kyle Kuzma who pitched in a decently efficient 21 points along with five rebounds. His performance was definitely respectable, but just didn’t live up to the other players who stood out due to his higher expectations.
The first stud is Deni Avdija, who put on a clinic on defense.
Deni Avdija was nothing short of elite on the defensive end of the court last night, defending both DeMar DeRozen and Zach LaVine at various moments throughout the game and down the stretch. He even caused LaVine to miss a game ending layup with nine seconds left. He also nabbed four steals and constantly disrupted the Bulls offense.
Avdija also had his best game of the season on offense last night as well, putting up an efficient 10 points with six assists and five rebounds to compliment. He also hit a deep three that was called off due to a foul occurring on a fake screen and slip from Kristaps Porzingis.
Speaking of Kristaps Porzingis, he is the second stud from last night’s game
Porzingis had 28 points, nine rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and two steals. He was stuffing the stat sheets all night. Even with him missing all six of his three-point attempts, he was still a monster on the court and put constant pressure on the Bulls.
He was the best player from last night’s game out of both teams and he didn’t even use all of his weapons on offense to their fullest extent. He is truly deserving of his unicorn nickname.
The third stud is Daniel Gafford.
Daniel Gafford has struggled to start the season; some fans have even called for him to be traded. Maybe those calls have been put to rest after Gafford put in 10 points in a nearly perfect game, only missing one free throw.
He was also impressive on the defensive end of the floor, contesting shots consistently and even sending two of them right back at the opposing player. He also grabbed a steal during his 18 minutes of action.
