Unfortunately, there were also some areas for improvement for the Washington Wizards last night.

There were definitely some players who had a rough game, which tends to be a present when a team loses. Although some exceptions apply, like Tracy McGrady soring 13 points in 33 seconds. Sadly, there was no miracle event that caused the Wizards to lose, just poor rebounding and execution down the stretch.

There are three duds that stood out last night. Let’s dive on in.

The first dud is the Wizards’ lack of ball movement.

The Washington Wizards did not move the ball almost at all in the first half which led to a stagnant offense. Of their 41 made shots, only 22 of them were assisted on, that is a low percentage compared to other high scoring offenses.

There were entire possessions where the Wizards only passed the ball two or three times and got a tough fade away shot at the buzzer. It was hard to watch at times.

They have consistently settled for ok shots all season when players could have made the extra pass to get a better shot. This is an area head coach Wes Unseld Jr needs to address soon.

The second dud is Will Barton.

Will Barton was expected by some fans to break into a groove with Bradley Beal sidelined with injury. This simply did not happen as he went two for seven from the field and only scored six points. He also did not really affect the game in any other way.

Barton has been one of the bigger disappointments of the season so far. His poor play has definitely been a cause for concern amongst fans.

The final dud of last night’s matchup is the shot selection.

The shot selection was horrible for a large chunk of the game. There isn’t any sugar coating it, they need to make better decisions. It was bad.

Now to be fair to the players, some of this was caused by the lack of ball movement listed earlier, but even with time on the clock, there were some questionable threes or turnaround post shots taken all game long.

This was particularly an issue early in the first quarter but got better as the game went on. Still, many of the shots being taken last night could have been passed up on for a much better scoring opportunity.
