Proposing a ridiculous trade that would push the Washington Wizards into a rebuild
The Washington Wizards have been one of the most inconsistent teams in the NBA this season. There is no doubt that there is enough talent on the roster to win a championship, however due to lack of discipline and poor coaching decisions.
This has caused them to briefly be a top team in the hunt for Victor Wembanyama before going on a five-game winning streak. Their new big man roster and plenty of opposing injuries and suspensions were driving forces in that streak. Then they played Giannis Antetokounmpo, and he picked the new rotation to shreds.
This new big man rotation is clearly not going to be enough to push them past the Milwaukee Bucks in a playoff series. The Wizards should rebuild before it’s too late.
Now time for a ridiculous trade proposal that would absolutely push the Washington Wizards into a rebuild.
As a quick disclaimer, this probably will never happen in a million years, but it would give the Washington Wizards a boat load of quality young talent while making the rest of the NBA a little more interesting.
To start off the Washington Wizards would receive Thaddeus Young, Josh Okogie, Gary Trent Jr, James Wiseman, Precious Achiuwa, Dalano Banton, and Patrick Baldwin Jr. This is a ridiculous amount of young talent and plenty of draft picks, most of which have huge upside to become great NBA players.
Next, the Golden State Warriors receive Jae Crowder and Daniel Gafford. This is a team looking to compete. These two players would fill in any gaps in the roster without having to give up Jonathan Kuminga in the trade.
The Toronto Raptors would receive Kristaps Porzingis allowing them to run big man lineups alongside their five forwards lineup. He would be a very interesting fit next to Pascal Siakam due to his ability to do literally anything you need him to do.
This is probably the bottle neck of the trade as they give up numerous valuable assets. However, they are also gaining a high-level player in return.
Finally, the Phoenix Suns would win the Kyle Kuzma sweepstakes. He has been dominating trade rumors lately because he is capable of lighting teams up in a number of different ways and he is seemingly planning on leaving the Washington Wizards anyway.
Once again, this will likely never happen, but it is fun to imagine what the Washington Wizards could do with this amount of quality young talent at their disposal. This trade would also maximize their chances of drafting Victor Wembanyama.
