We live in a world where Kevon Looney can finish in the top ten of All-Star voting, yet somehow, we cannot get Kristaps Porzingis, a former All-Star having one of the best seasons of his career, into the top ten.

Just a few short days ago, Shams Charania dropped the first round of All-Star voting returns and, per usual, fans were not too happy with the results. From Austin Reaves to Derrick Rose, there were no shortage of frustrating placements.

Possibly the biggest rip off of the list was the lack of Kristaps Porzingis from the top ten. This is especially frustrating when taking into account that Kyle Kuzma, a player who does not lead the Washington Wizards in any stat, lands at seventh.

When seeing other names like Nic Claxton and rookie Paolo Banchero on this list, it become infuriating.

Kristaps Porzingis has been statistically dominant for the Washington Wizards.

The Washington Wizards haven’t been great this season, a combination of injuries and inconsistent roles have plagued the team. One constant however, the elite play of Kristaps Porzingis.

In his second season with the Wizards, among players with 25+ games played he is leading the team in three of the five major stat categories (points, rebounds, and blocks) while being tied with Jordan Goodwin in steals. He is also less than two assists per game shy of Monte Morris who leads the team in that category.

Porzingis is averaging 21.9 points, 9 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.6 blocks, and a steal per game. He is doing all of this with great shooting splits and impressive advanced stats as well. There is no doubt that he deserves a spot in Salt Lake City during the All-Star break.

While the Eastern Conference front court vote doesn’t really matter after the fourth spot as there are an extremely limited number of starting roles for four MVP candidates, it is still frustrating to see names like Nic Claxton receive more votes than a dominant force like Kristaps Porzingis. We can do better than this.
