The Washington Wizards have not been good this season. That is an unfortunate fact, yet some among the front office seem to think that it is nothing more than fiction. Maybe they need their franchise cornerstone Bradley Beal to request a trade in order to finally figure it out.

Beal has been a major part of this organization since he was drafted by the team in 2012. He was their last great draft selection and has really been the sole reason that the team has stayed relevant for so long. Still, it’s time for him to go.

This past offseason, Beal signed a massive contract worth $251 million. The price tag alone is controversial even amongst the most diehard fans of the star shooting guard. To add to the frustration, he became only the tenth player in NBA history to receive a no-trade clause.

This clause in his contract means that Bradley Beal cannot be traded unless he wants to be traded and if he approves of any trade. This means using him as a trade piece to kickstart a rebuild may be insanely difficult. Unless he requests a trade.

Why Bradley Beal should request a trade from the Washington Wizards.

Anybody who watches any five minutes of any Wizards game this season knows that the team needs to rebuild. They have had a wide variety of issues in nearly every aspect of the game.

Bradley Beal should be able to recognize that he will not win with the Wizards and should look to move on. This would not only be the best choice for him, but also for the franchise he helped keep afloat for so many years.

There are numerous teams that would be interested in the Services of Beal due to his ability to dominate the game both on and off the ball on offense. He can also be a serviceable defender if asked to do so.

The most likely destination would be the Los Angeles Lakers who boast two first round picks and desperately need any shooting that they can get to help LeBron James as he aims to keep playing into his forties.

Other suitors may include the New York Knicks, The Brooklyn Nets, the Toronto Raptors, the Miami Heat, and maybe even the Golden State Warriors if they get desperate to turn their season around.

All of these teams have both young assets and at least a couple of picks to give the Wizards in exchange for Beal. This franchise just needs a change going forward.

If Bradley Beal requests a trade out of the Washington Wizards it may allow him to not only truly compete for a championship for the first time in his career, but he may even be able to return to the All-Star game and maybe even solidify himself as a potential Hall of Famer. Not only would this be greatly beneficial for Beal, but it would also allow the Wizards to reset and try to build a true contender in a few years.
