The Washington Wizards travel to face the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday night with plenty of wounds still fresh for many fans. To settle the restlessness of the fans, they Wizards should look to Kyle Kuzma for a big game tonight.
Monday was an eventful day for the Washington fanbase as the Wizards had a variety of news releases. Early in the morning, it was revealed that Kristaps Porzingis is hurt to the point of missing a few weeks with his ankle sprain. Then, to the horror of the fans, Rui Hachimura was traded for Kendrick Nunn and a small handful of second round picks. Great news.
With the Wizards making trades to tank while trying to win a championship and Kuzma seemingly gone in the upcoming free agency period, they need something to happen in their matchup against the Dallas Mavericks. This is where Kyle Kuzma comes in.
This is Kyle Kuzma’s chance to prove that he is a franchise player.
With his main backup and primary bench scorer now gone, it is now up to Kyle Kuzma to carry a heavier load on both ends of the floor. Their game against the Mavericks is the perfect opportunity for him to show why he deserves upwards of $20 million per year in free agency.
The newfound lack of forwards on the roster now allows him to play heavier minutes for at least the next few weeks. These games will be where he needs to prove that he is an All-Star caliber player.
This first game against the Mavs is the first chance for him to prove himself while also possibly being the best. The Mavericks are not well known for their supporting cast around Luka Doncic, and the forward positions may be the worst on the roster. This could allow Kuzma to go to town against weaker defenders while also making an impact on defense.
If Kyle Kuzma is able to go for a big game against the Mavericks and continue that streak for the next few weeks, it will do wonders to reassure the Wizards fanbase that is currently stirring.
