Following a nail-biting loss to the Washington Wizards Tuesday night, many members of the Dallas Mavericks were not pleased with their performance. Former Wizard Spencer Dinwiddie was so upset that he even went on a post-game rant about it.

He referenced how great of a player Luka Doncic is before tearing into the Wizards players, saying “They’re over there trying to get paid, we’re trying to play winning basketball.”

It almost seemed as if Dinwiddie forgot that the Wizards current roster boasts an NBA champion in Kyle Kuzma. In a follow-up Tweet, the All-Star hopeful called out not only Spencer Dinwiddie but also the Mavericks saying that they don’t play winning basketball.

While the Mavs are fresh off of a conference finals appearance, it is hard to disagree with Kuzma on this take. Their gameplan this season has been almost entirely ‘give the ball to Doncic and get out of the way.’ In today’s era of analytics and ball movement, this will not win you many games.

Many fans have also ripped Spencer Dinwiddie for his post-game comments. Most responses are along the lines of what Kuzma said, but some make fun of the Mavericks 25-24 record despite having a top three MVP candidate on the roster.

It’s possible that Spencer Dinwiddie’s history with the Washington Wizards played a role in his comments.

During his time with the Washington Wizards there were no shortage of reports that Spencer Dinwiddie did not get along with other players. He played poorly and just never got along with the people he needed to get along with. It was no secret; it’s why he was traded to the Mavericks in the first place.

It is likely this disdain for many of his former teammates that led to this type of jab at the Wizards roster. Still, that comment was uncalled for and completely disrespects every player that works hard to win games in this organization.

Kyle Kuzma was right to call Spencer Dinwiddie out for that interview. Next time he should wait before trying to take a jab at the Washington Wizards.

Next. The Washington Wizards need to trade for this under the radar center. dark
