Don’t look now, but the Washington Wizards have won five games in a row and are up to ninth place in the east, 23-26. Washington might not be tanking at the deadline like many thought they should. It’s a good spot for a sixth-straight win against the 14-36 and definitely tanking, San Antonio Spurs.

The Wizards are expected to get back Kristpas Porzingis from a sprained ankle on Monday. Is the return of Porzingis enough to get Washington a road cover? Let’s take a look at the odds for this matchup down in Texas.

Wizards vs. Spurs odds, spread and total

Wizards vs. Spurs prediction and pick

Over the past five games, the Wizards are second in the NBA in net rating, fifth in offensive rating, and ninth in defensive rating. Not only have the Wizards gone 5-0 in those five games, but they’ve covered the spread in all five. Meanwhile, San Antonio has a -16.6 net rating, the worst in the NBA in this recent five game stretch. The Spurs are actually 17th in offensive rating in the last five, but are far and away the worst defensive team in the NBA right now.

Washington should be getting Porzingis back after he missed the last three games, and that should help the defense actually more than the offense. Porzingis is leading the Wizards in scoring with 22.1 points a night, but he’s also leading in rebounds and blocks. Even on a minutes restriction, the Wizards’ recent play, mixed with the return of their big man makes them a good bet to cover on the road.
