Proposing new trade that could make the Wizards real contenders

The Washington Wizards receive upgrades at multiple positions.

The huge weaknesses in the Wizards roster get patched up as they pick up improvements at every position of need except for the point guard. Which could be fixed by converting Jordan Goodwin’s contract into a full NBA deal.

This trade doesn’t come without a hefty price tag though. Saying goodbye to Corey Kispert will hurt and they would have to give up all of the second-round picks secured through the trade with the Los Angeles Lakers and probably their next available first-round pick (top ten protected) as well.

These are prices the Wizards should be willing to pay as the benefits of the trade far outweigh the negatives. This trade puts them in title contention immediately this season.

They would have three 20 point per game scorers with a quality back up player that fits with the roster at every position. This team would look scary with these upgrades. The defense for sure would drastically improve.

The Spurs reported asking price for Doug McDermott has been one to two second-round picks, meaning that this trade is essentially Corey Kispert, Johnny Davis, Will Barton, a second-round pick, and a protected first for Jakob Poeltl. The Spurs are currently asking for two first-round picks for the veteran center. The combo of Kispert and Davis could make up for the lack of extra pick. Especially with the third second rounder being involved.

If the Washington Wizards are able to pull the trigger on this trade, they will certainly be able to make a strong push for the playoffs and be a team that is capable of making noise in the playoffs.
