Wizards vs. Pistons prediction and odds for Wednesday, February 1 (Washington stays hot)
By Peter Dewey
The Washington Wizards have had a rollercoaster of a 2022-23 season, but they’re at a high point right now, winning six straight games to move into the No. 9 spot in the Eastern Conference.
Washington is on the road on Wednesday, but it gets to face the Detroit Pistons, the worst team in the East this season. The Pistons could move off some of their veterans at the trade deadline, and they have struggled all season long, winning just 13 of their 52 games.
With Bradley Beal in the lineup this season, the Wizards are 16-14, and they’ve won all six games since he came back from a hamstring injury.
It helps to have your best player available, doesn’t it?
The Pistons are still down Cade Cunningham, Marvin Bagley III and Cory Joseph in this matchup. Washington’s injury report is light, featuring Anthony Gill (out) and Daniel Gafford (questionable).
Let’s dive into the odds and a pick for this matchup:

Wizards vs. Pistons prediction and pick
I love Washington in this spot as just a 5.5-point favorite, as its gone 4-1 ATS as a road favorite this season.
The Pistons, despite finding themselves and sizable underdogs more often than not, have really struggled to cover the spread, especially as home dogs.
So far this season, Detroit is just 8-13-1 (38.1 percent) ATS as a home underdog, and it is losing those games by an average margin of 6.5 points.
Both of these teams rank in the bottom 10 in the NBA in net rating for the season, but Washington has been hot as of late, climbing to sixth in the league over its last 10 games.
The Pistons (29th in defensive rating) have shown very little interest in slowing anyone down this season, and I expect the trio of Beal, Kyle Kuzma and Kristaps Porzingis to have a field day on Wednesday.
Lay the points with the Wizards as they look to win their seventh straight.
