3 sleeper trade targets for the Washington Wizards to consider
Andre Drummond may be an easy player for the Wizards to target.
Since the Chicago Bulls are not in a much better position than the Washington Wizards, but somehow much healthier, they may be looking to shift into a rebuild. With stars like Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozen, and Nikola Vucevic, they have plenty of assets to move.
However, the one I’m interested in as a potential Wizard is Andre Drummond. Once an All-Star, Drummond is still one of the better rebounding players in the league. He averages 6.7 rebounds in just shy of 13 minutes per game.
If the Wizards are able to bring in the four-time rebounding champion, they could really boost their frontcourt. Drummond is the perfect player to let Daniel Gafford rest longer than three to five minutes at a time. Kristaps Porzingis would also no longer have to spend half the game playing center anymore if this were to happen.
Possibly the best part of the trade, Andre Drummond isn’t one of the oldest players in the league. That can’t be said about their current backup Taj Gibson who is nearly 38 and rarely plays. However, since he is still past his prime and on a small contract, they could probably get the services of the former star of the Detroit Pistons for the Lakers picks that have been mentioned in every slide so far.
This would provide the Wizard with injury protection for both Kristaps Porzingis and Daniel Gafford while also allowing them to run big man lineups for the entire game. Even better, they can still run Deni Avdija at the four next to Porzingis from time to time since Drummond doesn’t demand heavy minutes.
If the Washington Wizards are looking for small trades that could land them more wins, these three players are great choices. They can all benefit the Wizards roster without costing them too much.
