The Los Angeles Lakers, Utah Jazz and Minnesota Timberwolves just conducted a trade to send former Washington Wizards guard Russell Westbrook was traded to Utah.

But what does this have to do with the Wizards?

Chris Haynes from Bleacher Report reported that the Jazz will likely buy out Westbrook’s contract. If the Jazz decide to pursue a buyout with Russell Westbrook, he is free to go anywhere he wants. So why not go back to the last team who let him be the man? Russell is looking for a place where he’s felt welcomed, utilized and have an opportunity to win. The Wizards are in desperate need of a point guard who can control the offense. It would be a perfect fit for both parties. It can be a nice reunion to see Russell Westbrook back in the red, white and blue.

Russell never seemed to be the right fit in Los Angeles. He struggled as a starter playing alongside LeBron James, averaging 18.5 points, 7.4 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game. He then became a Sixth Man and was starting to thrive in that role, averaging 15.9 points, 6.2 rebounds and 7.5 assists per game. It should be noted that this is the fourth time he’s been traded since leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder. Westbrook was never a highly efficient player, shooting 41.7 percent from the field this season, which is the second lowest of his career.

It was reported that Russell Westbrook and Lakers coach, Darvin Ham had a verbal exchange when the Lakers fell to the Thunder Tuesday night. If Wes Unseld Jr. can find a way to channel Russ’ passion as well as his talent, we can see the return of Mr. Triple-Double back in the District.
