After having one of the best defensive seasons in the NBA this year, Delon Wright failed to make the NBA’s All-Defensive Team. This is largely due to the long absence he had in the middle of the season due to a hamstring injury he suffered in November.

After the two All-Defensive teams were announced on Tuesday, Wright took to Twitter to let every Wizards fan know how he felt about being left out of the selections. He announced that he needs a spot next season, and it’s hard for Wizards fans to disagree.

Wright was a major catalyst in the Wizards remaining competitive for much of the season before the team collapsed in the final month. He contributed elite defense and insanely efficient scoring for the Wizards off the bench and was an important voice in the locker room as well.

He averaged 1.8 steals per game and was nearly always asked to defend the opposing teams best perimeter players whenever he was in the game. Not always an easy task when considering that almost every team has an All-Star caliber guard in their rotation.

Even Kyle Kuzma couldn’t help but support his teammate, also taking to Twitter to voice his opinions on the elite defensive guard.

If he were to make the All-Defensive team next season, he would only be the fifth player in franchise history to be selected and the first since John Wall in 2015. This would be one way of solidifying himself as one of the elite defenders not just in the NBA but in the history of the Washington Wizards.

Delon Wright is one of the elite defensive presences in the NBA and is capable of causing even the best point guards in the league to grow flustered. The Washington Wizards should be looking to put him in a prominent role in the rotation next season so long as he stays healthy.
