Dwight Howard could be a major presence off the bench for the Wizards

While he may not have spent this past season in the NBA, Dwight Howard has shown that he can be an elite role player on a championship caliber team. He played a major role for the Lakers in their 2020 championship run and followed that up with a great season off the bench behind Joel Embiid and another season off the bench in LA where he displayed a much broader skillset.

Howard is no longer the player he was back in his tenure with the Orlando Magic where he was a dominant force. However, he has become a role player off the bench that can do a little bit of everything except space the floor.

In his last season with the Lakers, Howard displayed an improved ability to dish the ball and clog passing lanes. Now playing in Taiwan, he is continuing to show that he is worth another NBA contract.

He could be huge for the Wizards by guiding Daniel Gafford in the right direction and even helping the team off the bench by offering shot blocking next to the elite defensive pair of Deni Avdija and Johnny Davis.

While his first stint with the Washington Wizards was less than memorable, Howard is still a name that should be monitored by the new GM as a potential boost off the bench.
