Coby White

One potential target for the Wizards in the restricted free-agent market is Coby White of the Chicago Bulls. After having very promising seasons in his first two years in the NBA, White fell out of favor in Chicago as the team expedited the rebuild and built a team that had offensive weapons like Lonzo Ball, Demar Derozan, Zach Lavine, and Nikola Vucevic. White became an afterthought in the loaded Bulls offense.

Yet, the skills that made White an exciting prospect at the University of North Carolina still remain. White is a solid three-point shooter with the ability to create his own shot. He shot 38.7 percent on catch-and-shoot three-pointers last season. His overall career three-point percentage is 36.7%, a decent number for a player who also takes tough and off-the-dribble threes.

White certainly needs a fresh start in a new environment. He is only 23 years old and can use a bigger role in a rebuilding team like the Washington Wizards.

Since White is a restricted free agent, the Chicago Bulls have the right to match any offer. So, it’s unclear whether the Wizards would be able to lure White with a multi-year offer sheet that Chicago wouldn’t match. It is certainly worth trying.
