Washington Wizards: 4 free agent big men to target
By Cem Yolbulan
Dario Saric
Another big man who can provide versatility to the young Wizards roster is Dario Saric, albeit mostly only on the offensive end. The 29-year-old Croatian big can play either power forward or center thanks to his ability to put the ball on the floor, shoot, and pass. He would be a solid addition to a Wizards team looking for size and skill.
Saric is an intelligent basketball player who can play a connector role offensively, and be a cog in the machine defensively. He is not elite in any particular skill but he also doesn’t have many weaknesses. He can space the floor offensively and doesn’t need the ball in his hands to be effective. This is the type of player the Wizards need and don’t currently have on their roster.
Moreover, Saric provides veteran presence, mentorship, and experience to the team. He has both playoff and high-level international experience that can be helpful for the other young and international Wizards.
Saric finished the last season with the Oklahoma City Thunder and they may want to keep him around as they also lack frontcourt depth, but it’s worth it for Washington to try and lure him. A one or two-year contract for less than $10 million annually should be more than enough to bring Saric in. And if he manages to stay healthy, he would be very movable on that deal as well.
