The first loser of this year’s Summer League for the Washington Wizards is Xavier Cooks

One of the names that should have had a dominant outing in this year’s Summer League was Xavier Cooks. Instead, he was incredibly quiet in every game he played.

Cooks completely dominated the NBL in Australia for a few years before signing a long-term deal with the Washington Wizards last season. While he didn’t get much of a chance to show what he can do last season, this was his opportunity to show out for the new front office.

Many times, players get opportunities in the Summer League to prove they deserve rotational minutes. This was likely the case with Cooks, as again, he has not had much NBA playing time.

He would have loved to show up and dominate out of the gate, but he only really had one game of dominance against a Victor Wembanyama-less San Antonio Spurs roster. He likely stayed put in the rotation, which means he won’t see the floor too much this season.
