As we inch closer to the 2023-24 NBA season, we have a better idea of how each team will look on the court. Obviously, there are some trades and transactions to be made, but most teams have their roster spots filled and rotations decided, and are eagerly waiting for the regular season to start on October 24th. This includes the Washington Wizards. After a busy summer that saw plenty of player movement, the Wizards are pretty much ready to embark on the season. They still have one player under guaranteed contract they need to move before the season, but we have a general idea of what the roster is going to look like for the season opener.

So, how will the new-look Washington Wizards perform next season?

Sportsbooks expect them to be one of the worst teams in the league with a win expectation of 24.5 games. This is to be expected considering the departure of talent this offseason. The trades of Bradley Beal, Kristaps Porzingis, and Monte Morris left Washington not only bereft of talent but also of veteran presence and experience. The Wizards are now younger and less experienced.

With youth and experience come mistakes. They will lose plenty of games they should have won, lose games in the clutch, or get blown out by stronger teams. That is just the nature of being a young rebuilding team in the NBA. The success of the Wizards’ season will not be determined by how many games they win or lose. The development of their young players and the building of a winning culture are the two most important goals of this season.

However, this also shouldn’t mean they will not be fun or exciting. In fact, there is a real chance they will be significantly more fun to watch next season than they have been in the past few years. Let’s look at three reasons why the 2023-24 Washington Wizards should be an entertaining team to watch and follow all year.
