The Washington Wizards still have a move or two left but the 2023 offseason is almost behind us. In today’s NBA, when one transaction window closes, we start looking ahead to the next one. And perhaps the most exciting part of the NBA regular season is usually the trade deadline. Contending teams load up and non-playoff teams start their tanking. It is a time full of hope, excitement, and heartbreak. This year should be no different.

This year, the trade deadline is on Thursday, February 8th, at 3 PM EST. That is eight days before the All-Star break. The league has decided to continue the trend of having the trade deadline before the All-Star weekend to create more buzz. As usual, the trade deadline is right after the halfway mark of the season, with most teams having played around 50 games.

As things stand now, it promises to be a busy trade season in the NBA all season, with everything reaching its peak at the trade deadline. Damian Lillard and James Harden are still with the teams they demanded their trades from. The uncertainty surrounding Pascal Siakam and the Toronto Raptors is still ongoing. If these players are still on their teams come the trade deadline, expect a highly active market.

Even if not, there is still plenty of intrigue surrounding the Washington Wizards. The Wiz should have plenty of players that attract interest in the trade market. Kyle Kuzma and Tyus Jones can be major contributors on a variety of contenders, while veterans like Danilo Gallinari, Mike Muscala, and Delon Wright can be appealing options for playoff hopefuls. It would be surprising if at least a few of these players weren’t moved for future assets at the trade deadline.

There will likely be more trade candidates emerge as teams play above or below expectations to begin the season. Regardless of what happens between now and the trade deadline, one thing is certain, NBA fans can’t wait for the week of February 8th.
