AJ Dybantsa's latest post on social media has people thinking a return to BYU for his sophomore season could be in play, and for the Washington Wizards, that's about up to par when considering their bad luck.

Dybantsa is widely expected to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft after a monster freshman season at BYU, and following yet another underwhelming season in D.C., Washington is tied for the highest odds to land the top pick to select the star forward.

However, for an organization who's had notoriously bad luck, especially when it comes to the draft, it would be the most bizarre twist for their luck to get even worse if the blue-chip prospect announces his return for another season of college and the Wizards earn the top pick.

Wizards missing out on AJ Dybantsa is their luck

Washington's general manager, Will Dawkins, enters the offseason looking to get lucky in the draft, but if Dybantsa's cryptic tweet results in a return to college, the Wizards will be getting the exact opposite.

The standout wing proved to be one of the best players in the nation this season, averaging 25.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists, while shootin 51% from field goal range and 33.1% from three.

Dybantsa would be the exact final piece to the puzzle that a team like the Wizards needs. Beyond that, the athletic playmaker is the exact type of prospect every squad in the league would covet.

The Wizards have missed out on the top pick so many years in a row; it's about time they find themselves in the pole position for once.

And if they do, it would be incredibly bad luck for them if it comes less than a month after Dybantsa announces his return to BYU.

Then again, maybe the post has nothing to do with a college return at all.

Dybantsa's announcement could be anything

Dybantsa is going live to make an announcmenet, but what kind is certainly up in the air.

The forward could be announcing his return to BYU, declaring for the NBA Draft, or simply announcing a partnership with a top brand based on the fact that he is one of the most popular athletes in the game right now.

Regardless, when discussing the luck for a team like the Wizards, all thoughts immediately go to the worst-case scenario considering what the team has dealt with as of late.
