It's been just over a month since the Washington Wizards made the blockbuster trade to acquire four-time All-Star Trae Young.

Landing the star guard offered the Wizards a much-needed answer in their backcourt after years of failing to land a guard the team felt was capable enough to lead the charge and help the team get to the next level of their rebuild.

Shortly after the arrival of Young, Washington continued their bold moves by landing arguably the biggest fish on the trade block in Anthony Davis, pairing the versatile big man with one of the best passing guards in the league.

Looking ahead, it's clear that the Wizards new superstar duo raises expectations for the rebuilding team's position in the Eastern Conference, but until the two players debut, it'll be hard to pinpoint how high expectations should be moving forward.

For Davis, his debut with the Wizards has no timetable at this point of the season and there likely won't be one until he officially joins his new team in the DMV, where he's expected to continue his rehab for his hand injury.

Meanwhile, updates on Young could be on the horizon with the Wizards revealing that the guard would be re-evaluated after the All-Star break when he originally joined the team in early January.

Trae Young could receive injury update soon

Young has only appeared in 10 games this season with the Hawks prior to being dealt to the Wizards at the start of 2026.

The star guard has been nursing injuries all season long after after being shipped to D.C., it became evident early on that his return wouldn't be rushed, especially with the Wizards still holding out hopes for landing the No. 1 overall pick this offseason.

Still, when the playmaker landed in Washington, the team revealed that his MCL injury be re-evaluated after the All-Star break to determine when his return to play would come.

Obviously, the Wizards offseason agenda could continue to delay his eventual debut with the team.

With no reason to rush him back to health, Washington won't push for his debut to come before he's back to 100%.

However, the Wizards timeline for an update suggests that whether he's set to return or be sidelined for an extended period of time, an update on his recovery will be revealed soon considering the All-Star break is quickly approaching an end.

Until either one of Young or Davis debut for the Wizards, fans will be forced to continue daydreaming about how good of a pairing the team's new duo will be.
