The Washington Wizards have made several questionable moves in the past.
In fact, the team has several mistakes still haunting them to this day, with the likes of Deni Avdija's breakout reminding them of their mistakes on a daily basis.
Obviously, every team has their fair share of poor judgement calls which often comes back to haunt them when players let go move on and show out elsewhere.
However, for the Wizards, these things seem to happen more to this organization than any other.
Now, the latest former player to emerge is making his impact in the Eastern Conference, which will only add to the pain for Wizards' fans who had high hopes for this prospect in Washington.
Ryan Rollins has broken out in Milwaukee
Ryan Rollins found himself in Washington during the 2023-24 season, after landing with the Wizards following a minor stint with the Golden State Warriors.
In 10 games with the Wizards, the Toledo product averaged ojnlu 4.1 points, 1.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists in limited minutes.
While the guard didn't flash star-level potential in his minimal role, his young age and college success is what gave the team and the fanbase hope he could breakout in the right situation.
Nonetheless, Rollins never got the chance to prove he could develop into more in the DMV after being released from the team following a shoplifting incident that led to his arrest and eventual departure from the team.
Following the incident, Rollins next opportunity came with the Milwaukee Bucks, where he's spent multiple seasons developing.
After the release of injured guard Damian Lillard this offseason, Rollins was given the opportunity to take on a sizable role and a starting job for Doc Rivers and the Bucks.
Since receiving the opportunity, not only has he seized the opportunity, but he looks like a player who belongs in the starting lineup of a playoff-caliber team.
Rollins is averaging 16.3 points, 5.6 assists and 3.4 rebounds, while shooting 51.5% from field goal range and 38.5% from beyond the arc in 31 minutes per game.
Would his career have shaped out like this had he stayed in Washington? That's unknown.
However, it's worth noting that the Wizards had the opportunity to develop Rollins and see what he had to offer beyond those 10 games, even after disciplining him for his off-the-court issues.
Now, Washington will be forced to watch Rollins' breakout in Milwaukee and wonder what could have been.
