Tre Johnson enters his rookie season with the Washington Wizards with all eyes on him.
Not only does he have plenty of expectations placed upon him by the Wizards front office with the hope that he could potentially develop into a cornerstone in the DMV, but the former Texas star has high expectations for himself entering the league.
It's been clear from the jump that confidence is the least of Johnson's worries and with his talent, it's easy to understand why the young guard has the belief in himself when he steps on the court.
Not to mention, the playmaker's work ethic alone sets him apart based on early reviews about the work he puts in since arriving in Washington.
Although the bar was already set high for Johnson entering year one in Washington, the Wizards rook just saw expectations increase following Bleacher Report's bold prediction about the guard.
Bleacher Report predicts Johnson will lead rookies in scoring
In a recnet article by Bleacher Report's Andy Bailey, each team was given one bold prediction ahead of the season.
For Washington, Bailey's prediction was that Johnson would not only lead the Wizards' rookie class in scoring, but that he'd lead the entire rookie class in scoring.
"He [Johnson] struggled through the preseason (where he averaged just 6.7 points), but more scoring opportunities will open up for Tre Johnson after the Washington Wizards trade CJ McCollum and Khris Middleton (moves that seem almost inevitable)," Bailey said.
Predicting Johnson to lead the rookie class in scoring indirectly suggests that the Wizards rookie will be more of a scoring threat than the likes of other top rookies such as Cooper Flagg, Dylan Harper, VJ Edgecombe and Ace Bailey, who finds himself in a rebuilding situation similar to Johnson.
There's no doubt that Johnson has the ability to turn Bleacher Report's bold prediction into reality, but to do that, plenty of things will have to trend in the playmaker's favor for that to happen.
Not only does Bailey's prediction ride on Johnson receiving more offensive opportunities by the potential trades of CJ McCollum and Khris Middleton, who's on an extremely difficult contract to trade, but the guard will have to remain healthy throughout the entire season.
Johnson's preseason struggles are the least of the reasons why Johnson could potentially fail to reach this goal and if his success through every other stop in his career suggests anything, it's that this prediction is very much on the table for the Wizards rookie to achieve.
