The Washington Wizards were dealt a bad hand in Monday's NBA Draft Lottery with rookie Bub Carrington in attendance as the team's representation.

Carrington entered Chicago's draft lottery with the chance to be one of the first faces Wizards fans saw when their dreams of drafting Cooper Flagg finally came true when they landed the No. 1 overall pick.

Instead, Washington's dream scenario came tumbling down when deputy commissioner Mark Tatum announced the Wizards as the No. 6 overall pick and immediately panned the camera to Carrington, who could do nothing but look on in shock just liike the rest of us.

Obviously, landing one of Flagg or Dylan Harper was the hope entering the draft lottery, and while the Wizards landing spot felt deflating at the time, they still have the possibility to add a premiere talent.

If you ask Bub Carrington, he won't hesitate to tell you who he thinks the Wizards should select with their top pick.

Carrington wants Derik Queen

Carrington didn't hesitate when asked who he thought should be the Wizards pick at No. 6 overall.

It's hard to argue with Carrington about how preference for Queen to be the Wizards top selection in next month's draft.

The Maryland product has everything Washington could be looking for in a top prospect, and while he may not be the position that most Wizards fans are hoping for, his fit alongside Alex Sarr in the front court could be a dream pairing for the team to build around moving forward.

Queen has an improving shot, and his potential to fill out his frame to adjust to the league is drawing encouraging comparisons to one of the top big men to ever play the game.

If Queen can develop his jumper like he showed flashes of down the stretch for the Terrapins, he has everything needed to be an immediate impact player for the Wizards, with the chance to become much better than many expect.

Not to mention his ties to the Wizards organization from attending games as a DMV native as a kid, to his relationships with current player like Carrington could bode well for the prospect to give his all when it comes attacking every day looking to improve.

Although Flagg may not be wearing a Wizards jersey, Washington still has the opportunity to go out and find the best player for them, while also having the possibility to select another top prospect at No. 18 overall courtesy of the Memphis Grizzlies.
