The Washington Wizards rebuild has been ongoing for the last few years as the team has explored every avenue to find important pieces of the puzzle, both big and small.
Washington has taken several swings on high-upside prospects in the NBA Draft Lottery with the likes of Bilal Coulibaly, Alex Sarr, Bub Carrington and even Tre Johnson coming to mind.
In addition, the Wizards have prioritized finding value in the backhalf of the first round too with their abundance of draft assets, which includes the likes of Kyshawn George, who's emerged as a hidden gem in Washington and Will Riley who's continuously impressed throughout his rookie campaign in the DMV.
Still, Washington has struggled to find the catalyst that the team can rely on to not only provide energy, but command Brian Keefe's offense with confidence and simply be a floor general for the young team.
Part of that is exactly why the Wizards made the bold move to acquire four-time All-Star Trae Young from the Atlanta Hawks when they received the golden opportunity after being listed as the star guard's preferred landing spot,
However, many people were quick to criticize the Wizards' addition of Young with many wondering how he'd fit in Washington considering his age and simply how his arrival would impact the development of players in both a positive and negative way.
One player in specific that was viewed as a player who could be negatively impacted by Young's arrival is second-year man Bub Carrington, who the team hoped could be the long-term solution in the backcourt.
Nonetheles, Carrington doesn't seem to be concerned about Young's arrival in the slightest.
In fact, the guard seems encouraged about what the 27-year-old star will bring to D.C.
Bub Carrington has high hopes for Trae Young addition
In response to being asked about Trae Young's addition, Carrington didn't hesitate when raving about what the former top-five pick could offer the Wizards:
"Trae Young can bring everything that he brought to Atlanta and then some... he's going to bring value on the court... he's going to bring fans, energy, leadership," Carrington said.
The simple fact that the Pittsburgh product is showing signs of optimism about Young's arrival should subside the initial concerns that the playmaker could lose his spot in Washington.
Perhaps the addition of the former Hawks' star could be the exact move that lights a fire into Carrington to help him take the next step...or the two guard's could co-exist perfectly together and help give Washington one of the most dangerous backcourts in the league.
Regardless, Carrington's quote on Young should be looked at as a positive considering his high hopes for what the guard will bring to the DMV.
