The Washington Wizards have completely reshaped their roster over the last few months, and it's safe to say the position the team is in now is much different than it was at this time last year.

Will Dawkins has constructed one of the most talented rosters the fans in D.C. have seen in quite some time, and outside of the blockbuster additions of Trae Young, Anthony Davis, and even reigning No. 1 overall pick AJ Dybantsa, Washington has continued to make moves along the margins.

Washington has clear aspirations to make a run at the playoffs next season, but they've also made it clear that focusing on the development of their young core is a top priority.

However, between all the moves above, the list of talent already on the roster, and the recent reunion of veteran Khris Middleton, the writing is on the wall for one Wizard in particular to be on his way out.

Cam Whitmore's future in D.C. is looking murky

Cam Whitmore's arrival in Washington seemed like a fresh start that could help the former first-round pick finally find footing in his career to prove just how talented he was.

The DMV native showed flashes in his early run with the Wizards, but his persistent issues, mixed with the questionable decision-making on the court, led to head coach Brian Keefe benching him during a rough stretch at the start of the season.

Shortly after, Whitmore's season came to an end after a blood-clotting issue forced him to miss the remainder of the year after only 21 games.

In those games, Whitmore averaged 9.2 points, 2.7 rebounds and 0.7 assists on 45.6% shooting from the field and 28.6% from three.

Obviously, those numbers aren't terrible by any means, but during Whitmore's absence, it gave other players the chance to step up, and it's fair to say they outshined him quickly.

Not only are AJ Dybantsa, Kyshawn George, and even Bilal Coulibaly focal pieces of the team's rotation moving forward, but other young players used the extended run to solidify themselves over Whitmore in the future rotation.

Will Riley stepped up and impressed in a major way, especially down the stretch of the regular season. Tre Johnson is simply too good a scorer to keep off the floor, and the above names have clear reasons to be higher on Brian Keefe's preferred list of options.

Now, with Middleton in the fold too, it's clear his veteran presence will be essential off the bench in a season in which the Wizards have their sights set on a playoff push.

All that to say, don't be surprised to see Whitmore traded in the near future, especially if the moves keep coming.
