Looking back at last season, it's probably one that the Washington Wizards and their fanbase are more than okay with putting in the past.

No, there weren't high expectations that the Wizards didn't live up to.

Nor did the team fall short of a goal they set, at least not one that the outside world knows about.

It was clear from the jump that last season was a rebuilding year, where the Wizards were locked in on the youth movement in Washington making the development of young players a priority.

Still, the ups-and-downs of the Wizards trying 82-game season had plenty of fans looking ahead to the offseason and hoping that Washington could put their medicore play in the past.

Following the impressive moves over the last couple of months by general manager, momentum has seemed to swing in the Wizards favor, at least when it comes to the excitement around the rebuild movement in the DMV.

Between additions like Tre Johnson and Cam Whitmore, the young talent on the roster has fans finally looking forward to the season with excitement about what the future holds.

And while there's still plenty of excitment moving forward, one of the newest Wizards on the roster reminded fans about their nightmare season in one friendly jab

CJ McCollum reminds fans of how good he can be

CJ McCollum enters the season with the Wizards set to serve as the veteran mentor that Washington has desperately been seeking over the last few years after a failed Malcolm Brogdon experiment.

At 34, many are wondering just how much the guard has left in the tank, even after his impressive season in New Orleans last season.

For any fans wondering, McCollum feels great entering the season and he let the Wizards know just how good he feels:

"I might be in better shape now than when i had 50 against you guys," McCollum said during Monday's NBA Media Day.

McCollum has plenty of big games last season, averaging 21.1 points per game during his time in NOLA.

However, arguably his best game of the season came against his now current team when the Wizards traveled to New Orleans to take on the Pelicans.

McCollum finished the matchup with 50 points, while shooting 66.7% from the field goal range and 62.5% from beyond the arc.

The Lehigh product shot lights out in the win and if he can carry that play over to his stop in Washington, especially if he's feeling better than he did then, his role on the Wizards may be far more important than originally expected.
