The Washington Wizards front office has done an outstanding job gathering young talent to focus on as their rebuild continues to unfold.

Considering the card that general manager Will Dawkins was dealt, the current construction of the roster looks to have done a complete 360 compared to where they were at this time last year.

Washington has provided head coach Brian Keefe with multiple high-upside players on the roster and a mixture of veterans to possibly make some noise in the Eastern Conference next season as a sleeper.

However, looking at the current players on the roster, the most obvious fact that fans must come to terms with is that incoming rookie Tre Johnson is the most important player on their roster where things stand today.

Johnson has yet to suit up for the Wizards and already can be looked at as the most vital piece of their rebuild.

Coming in as the No. 6 overall pick, the former Texas star has arguably the most upside of any player on the team's roster.

Considering what Alex Sarr showed throughout his rookie season, it's safe to say that the 7-footer is unlikely to develop into a top option for the team. And truth be told, there's a high chance he's not even able to develop into a firm No. 2 for Washington moving forward.

With Sarr offering defensive-upside and limited offense, that puts the pressure on other young players like Bilal Coulibaly, Bub Carrington and Kyshawn George. Not to mention the other incoming rookies the Wizards have added to their roster this offseason.

Regardless, expectations for the other players on the roster don't exactly scream star potential at the moment outside of Johnson, who many considered one of the few players in this incoming NBA Draft class with the potential to develop into a star.

That's not to say the rest of the young players on the roster don't have the potential to develop into key pieces, but instead to make it clear that there's still plenty of work for the Wizards front office to do moving forward.

With Johnson being the most important piece to the Wizards rebuild without even lacing up for the organization yet, it's clear that Washington needs to continue to add talent with the upside to develop into a star alongside Johnson, assuming he's able to get to that level.

The reality is the Wizards still have a long ways to go.
