The Washington Wizards are one of many teams that all eyes are on as the NBA Trade Deadline approaches in February.
Washington currently sits at the bottom of the NBA with a league-worst record of 3-19. There's no secret that the Wizards will be a team active on the market looking to offload their multiple veterans and tradable contracts as an important stage of their rebuilding process is quickly approaching,.
And while the February deadline is quickly approaching, fans of the Wizards may not have to wait the next two months to see their team make a deal with a few players on the roster becoming eligible for trade on December 15th.
That said, here's a look at the the players Washington could consider moving after they become trade eligible on December 15th.
Jonas Valanciunas
Jonas Valanciunas is one of the biggest name on the trade market for not only the Wizards, but of any team in the league this season. The big man is one of the most viable options for teams who are seeking front court help and for the Wizards, that alone is a win for them when it comes to what they could get in return.
The 32-year-old is averaging 12.6 points, 8.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game, while shooting 56.6% from field goal range this season. Although he's bounced in and out of the starting lineup, Valanciunas has remained reliable and consistent for the Wizards and that's exactly what contending teams will be looking for as the postseason inches closer.
Following Dec. 15, the center will be eligible to be traded, but it won't be a shock to see Wizards general manager Will Dawkins wait until the trade deadline gets closer as he looks to maximize Valanciunas' trade value. Obviously that is unless some team offers a package too good to refuse.
Anthony Gill
Anthony Gill is yet another player that will soon become trade eligible and while he may not be an exciting name that will bring in a big package from another team, the Virginia product could very well be on the move.
At 32-years-old, Gill doesn't fit the timeline of the team's rebuild and averaging only 2.4 points and 1.2 rebounds, he doesn't offer enough to stress about keeping him on the roster. If he finds himself involved in a bigger deal or simply dealt for draft capital, it wouldn't be a shock to see.
Saddiq Bey
Saddiq Bey is one of the Wizards more recent additions over the offseason after inking the young forward to a multi-year deal. The Villanova product has yet to suit up for the Wizards as he recovers from an ACL tear that he suffered as a member of the Atlanta Hawks last season.
Nonetheless, at 25-years-old, the versatile wing could be a piece worth holding onto to see how he fits with the team's young squad moving forward.
