The Washington Wizards have seen an abundance of talented players suit up for the organization over the last few decades and as of now, only a handful are still making an impact across the league.
Following the end of careers, some of the best NBA minds to join a coaching staff are the players' who understand the game at a completely different level that even the smartest basketball minds aren't able to comprehend.
Some of those players are already running their own teams, with the likes of Steve Kerr, Ime Udoka and even JJ Redick coming to mind.
Meanwhile, others are still waiting on their opportunity while proving to be an essential asset on the top coaching staffs in the league.
For Erik Spoelstra and the Miami Heat, they've proven on a consistent basis to have one of the best coaching staffs in the league with names like Chris Quinn and Malik Allen often being considered one of the best assistants in the league.
However, this former Wizards has continuously climbed the rankings and with his recent work with Bam Adebayo to snap him out of his slump, it won't be a shock to see him become a top head coach candidate sooner rather than later.
Caron Butler is becoming a valuable coach in Miami
Caron Butler began his playing career in Miami, but some of his best seasons came in Washington, where he spent five years as a core member of the Wizards.
As a two-time All-Star in Washington, Butler will always be a special player in the hearts of many Wizards' fans, especially considering the memories he created during his time in the DMV.
Now, he's making his mark in South Beach by becoming one of the top assistant coaches in the league.
Based on Bam Adebayo's comments on Butler's impact with helping him overcome his recent offensive slump, it's hard to not talk about just how good of a coach the former star has become.
“Having somebody on your staff you can talk to..Caron Butler is like my big brother," Adebayo said. "He's always in my ear. He's the one person I can talk to about what I'm going through... Being able to have somebody like that in your corner, they care. You need that when you're going through the worst of the worst," the big man added.
Butler's presence on NBA sidelines can't be ignored and if Washington is ever in the market for another head coach, Butler may be a candidate to consider...assuming head coach Brian Keefe's stint in D.C. ends anytime soon.
