The Washington Wizards lead the league in losses this season with 45 at the All-Star break.
In one of the more disappointing seasons in franchise history, the bad news keeps coming for fans of the Wizards.
The Wizards closed the John Wall chapter multiple years ago, and last two offseasons ago they did the same with Bradley Beal. Both players brought excitement and good basketball to the team and the district of Washington D.C., and at times, they had fans of the team thinking they could be the answer to help them contend for a championship in the Eastern Conference.
And if the departure of these longtime Wizards wasn't hard enough, the recent comments by Wall on the Draymond Green Show may bring back the heartache after he revealed what could have been.
Wall-Beal recruited Paul George to Washington to form Big 3
Wall recently revealed that the Wizards made a push to form a Big 3 in the Washington to compete with LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers at the time.
"We were really trying to get Paul George. This was the perfect three man for us. We had the four and the five who were solid for us. Me and Brad [Beal] in the backcourt, I really feel like Paul George could have helped us."John Wall
At the time, the Wizards seemed to be knocking on the door of contending for an NBA Championship, especially after taking the Boston Celtics to seven games in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals before eventually falling to a Kelly Olynyk legendary game.
If the Wizards could have added Paul George to the mix, there's no doubt that the addition of the forward alongside a healthy Wall and Beal in his prime could have given the team the boost they needed to truly make some noise. All three players were among the best offensive scorers in the league, and by no means were they a slouch on the defensive side of the ball either.
Although the trio never got the chance to share the same court as teammates, the thought that the Wizards could have potentially made this move may be tough for fans of the Wizards to hear, especially as they continue to watch their team struggle to earn wins this season.
Nonetheless, now the team turns their attention to the back half of the season where they hope to finish strong and earn the chance to select Cooper Flagg with the top pick in the upcoming NBA Draft.
