John Wall has officially hung up his basketball shoes and moved on to his next career path off the court.

The former No. 1 overall pick recently announced his retirment and soon followed the decision with a seperate announcement about his plans to serve as an NBA Analyst for Amazon Prime this coming season and beyond.

There's no denying the talent Wall had on the court and it was clear that when he was healthy, he was one of the most explosive and dynamic playmaking point guards the league had to offer.

However, injuries took a toll on his career which led to not only force Wall to bounce around the league towards the end of his career, but also led to struggles for the former Kentucky star to find a spot on an NBA roster.

As a result, the long time Washington Wizards made the tough decision to call it a career and use his love for the game and next-level basketball IQ to impact the game in other ways as an analyst.

Nonetheless, with his career as a player officially over, it brings up the question as to whether or not the former Wizards deserves to have his jersey retired for the team he spent majority of his career with.

Considering his impact on the city and the franchise during his time in Washington, it doesn't come as a surprise to see the idea floated.

In a recent interview with Michael Lee of the Washington Post, Wall shared his thoughts about the subject:

“I definitely believe it belongs there,” Wall said. “I’m not one of those who want to go out there and say, ‘I’m the best Wizard of all time,’ because I haven’t accomplished certain things that other people have. I just think what I brought to the city, and just them adopting me as their own."

There's no denying that even during Wall's time in the DMV, the Wizards didn't find much success; at least none that won them any championships or any conference finals.

Despite that, the lack of success as an organization can't take away from the fact that Wall will forever be known as one of the most impactful players to wear a Wizards' jersey and his numbers prove that.

In addition, Wall acknowledges and regrets that lack of success during his time with the Wizards stating his one regret:

"Only thing I regret is not having the opportunity to go to the conference finals or compete for a championship. I think if it doesn’t go in the rafters, I don’t think the fans would really appreciate it. I think they’d be upset.”

Wall feels his jersey should be retired and if we're being honest, he has a more than solid argument in his favor.
